Steppes Travel Announces New Escorted Tour - The Chinese Silk Road

Cirencester, United Kingdom, June 14, 2007 --( Steppes Travel ( has announced a new Escorted Tour to the Chinese Silk Road. (

The new tour is designed to take in the rural and majestic mountainous countryside of Kyrghyzstan before following the northern Chinese Silk Route from West to East traveling via Kashgar renowned for its magnificent Sunday Market, Turpan to visit ancient cities, Dunhuang to see the Buddhist frescoes in the Mogao caves, Jiayuguan which is at the western end of the Great Wall, Tianshui and the hanging temple at Maijishan and Xian, the end of the Silk Road where you can view the Terracotta Army. The tour finishes in the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai.

The 20 day trip will be led by Peter Mackinnon who has completed this tour in 2004 and 2006 as well as leading other Steppes Travel tours through central Asia.
