Piscataway, NJ, October 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Transaction Publishers, a major independent publisher of social science books, announces the appointment of Professors Ching-I Tu and Dietrich Tschanz as the new editors of the Asian Studies book series. The editors plan to expand the series with a forthcoming edition expected for publication in fall/winter 2013.

The revamped Asian Studies series features interdisciplinary, international, cutting-edge research on a wide range of topics in Asian and East Asian Studies including:

- environment and climate change
- green technologies
- social stratification
- economic reforms
- media and communication
- women and gender
- urban-rural divide

The series will draw on many disciplines such as history, history of medicine, economics, sociology, anthropology, politics, philosophy, and cultural studies. The editors are especially interested in manuscripts that focus on contemporary Asia with reference to its traditions, revealing continuities, disruptions, and refractions in the progressive changes of the region.

“This union reinforces Transaction’s relationship with Rutgers and demonstrates our commitment to the University,” says Mary E. Curtis, President of Transaction Publishers. “The Asian Studies series is one of many series that we publish as part of our mission to produce scholarly and professional inquiries into the nature of society.”
