Transaction Publishers Establishes Journalism Book Series

Piscataway, NJ, January 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Transaction Publishers, a major independent publisher of social science books, is establishing a new book and eBook series about journalism under the editorship of Professor David Sachsman of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The Transaction Journalism series concentrates on the collection and dissemination of news and the history of the news media. It explores the role of the press in setting the agenda for public opinion and public policy, the adversarial relationship between the press and government, and the organizations and institutions that try to influence the reporting of the news. The series traces the changing nature of journalism across time, the many faces of journalism in the Internet world, and the censorship of the news media around the world. Journalism is a trade, a craft, an art, and a profession, and this series concerns the actions and ethics of those who practice it.

“Journalism studies is a concentrated area of interest in Transaction’s larger collection of works in communication studies,” says Mary E. Curtis, President of Transaction Publishers. “It is one of many series that we publish as part of our mission to produce scholarly and professional inquiries into the nature of society.”

Series editor David B. Sachsman holds the George R. West, Jr. Chair of Excellence in Communication and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Previously, he was chair of the department of journalism and mass media at Rutgers University. Some of his many books include The Civil War and the Press, Words at War, and Seeking a Voice.

To submit queries or manuscripts to be considered for the series, please e-mail David-Sachsman@utc.edu.
