Status Solutions Becomes Technology Provider for EarthBend

Situational awareness technology added to EarthBend’s integrated telephony-based solutions portfolio; multimedia and self-service platform also offered for enhanced communications

Sioux Falls, SD, June 11, 2013 --( Status Solutions’ software for situational awareness and response management will be included in EarthBend’s telephony-based solutions for U.S. and Canadian health care and hospitality markets available through their reseller community. This partnership enables EarthBend to provide partners and customers in these industries with more complete, value-added solutions for life safety, security, environmental monitoring and mass notification.

“Status Solutions came to our attention because we want to provide reliable emergency alerting to our health care customers, and then we realized that SARA provides so much more than just e-call,” says Ryan Donovan, general manager and vice president of sales and service for EarthBend. “By partnering with Status Solutions, we can provide all of our customers with the means to easily integrate their stand-alone alarm and communication systems for complete situational awareness and therefore more intelligent emergency response. That’s key for organizations that serve large numbers of people in a hospitality function – from hospitals and senior living communities to hotels and resorts.”

SARA (Situational Awareness and Response Assistant) is an automated alerting engine that unifies all alarm (life safety, security and environmental controls) and communication systems for centralized monitoring, alerting and reporting. The solution includes a wireless sensor network, integration tools and mass notification capabilities on one platform, so the appropriate people receive detailed information about an unfolding situation and the associated response plan, pre-programmed into the software according to an organization’s emergency protocols. Inputs can include fixed and mobile duress devices, fire panels, access controls, security cameras, and sensors to monitor such environmental controls as HVACs, boilers/water heaters, power generators, refrigerators/freezers in addition to the presence of water/humidity, hazardous substances (air sampling), cigarette smoke, etc.

EarthBend also will sell Status Solutions’ CATIE (Communication and Access to Information Everywhere) technology so senior living and hospitality customers can enhance communication to occupants. “CATIE provides complimentary communication capabilities, including intercom, digital signage and self-service, that will appeal to our customer base,” Donovan says. “Not only do senior communities and hotels have to improve communication and access to information for life safety and security, they also need to provide relevant content and superior amenities to occupants. The CATIE system gives these providers a platform to communicate with occupants more efficiently while allowing them to access the information and services they want.”

CATIE is an award-winning multimedia and self-service technology that functions as an intercom, message center, electronic bulletin board and concierge. Configured on the Apple iPad, CATIE is set up as a stationary, always-on, in-room kiosk that’s wall or desk-mounted. The desired business logic can be programmed under any button on the user interface, giving hospitality providers the ability to deliver custom content, amenities and services to improve the occupant experience. In senior living communities, CATIE provides residents with intercoms to communicate with staff and other residents and voice-reply email so they can stay connected to family and friends. In hotels, the intercom feature provides immediate front-desk connectivity for emergency alerting. Both environments benefit from digital signage and self-service capabilities.
