About Alfred J. Smith
Brother Smith has over 56 years experience in the field of social services. He is the President and Director of Inn Dwelling, a nonprofit educational program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for inner city children leading to college acceptance and scholarships and a housing program leading to home ownership. Brother Smith is responsible for oversight of the education program for children, the transitional housing program for families in need and the outreach program for the poor and needy. He was inducted into the Germantown Hall of Fame and received the President’s Medal from St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York. He is affiliated with the Knights of Columbus and is a member of the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent De Paul. Brother Smith was born on April 2, 1934 in Albany, New York. He received an Honorary Doctor, Humane Letters, from Niagara University. Brother Smith coached basketball and baseball as well as boys and girls track for 25 years. In his spare time he enjoys sports and coaching sports.
