Freedom & Inspiration: How Relocation is Making Lili Wexu a Better Voice Over Artist

Mobility, flexibility, and autonomy; It’s the beauty of being a voice over artist.

Los Angeles, CA, December 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Thanks to advances in technology – for example, industry-specific equipment becoming more compact and affordable - a voice talent can work from virtually anywhere, and be a success while doing it. Nobody demonstrates this agility better than Lili Wexu, a French-Canadian, perfectly bilingual, voice over talent, who has recently transplanted to LA.

Moving to Los Angeles had many perks for this Canadian, which included the opportunity to re-create her personal recording studio from scratch, and to get some proximity to the centre of the entertainment industry, as well as to the pool of voice talent. “The expert level of voice talent and coaches here is incredible. Mind-blowing, really,” reveals Lili, a member of Voices.com. “The cream of the crop lives and works here - they teach here! That makes me want to be better at my craft. That stimulates me as an artist.” The flexibility itself, which the career path of a voice actress affords her, is also a perk, as Lili was able to accept the challenge of relocating to a city that would greatly benefit her behind-the-scenes development: “The whole idea of coming to LA was to perfect myself, to be challenged, to keep growing, to push myself over the limits of what I thought I was capable of doing, so it's incredible to have a career that allows me to re-locate and be able to continue serving my clients, and make new local ones, while continuing to perfect my craft.”

Relocating to a different country and starting over is never easy, but Lili maintains that it is a blessing, “I know that I am a better artist for coming here.”

Beyond the added benefit of networking, which positively affects the service she is able to offer, customer service and accessibility are paramount when working remotely as a voice actor, Lili explains: “Thanks to Source Connect and ISDN services, I am still able to service my commercial and corporate clients in my home market of Quebec, and Canada, overall. As well, I can still service my international clients in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.”

The key technology that made relocating stateside feasible is ISDN, or Integrated Services Digital Network, a line that improves sound and voice quality through the transmission of digital signals that are not changed into analog. “I was able to move to LA because of ISDN. I had to get it if I wanted to service a much bigger market - that uses this technology much more than Canada - and to continue to give fantastic service to my existing clients both back home and all over the world.”

The ability to work from anywhere is rewarding. For the voice actor, it is the ultimate perk – freedom and inspiration on a daily basis. Lili champions this: “I am definitely falling in love with my job all over again. I am inspired!”
