Dr. Ashok Dutt, of Hudson, Ohio, has recently been recognized by Strathmore’s Who’s Who Registry as a Professional of the Year for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the fields of Geography and City Planning.

Dr. Ashok Dutt is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Akron. Dr. Dutt received his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Patna in India and earned a Diploma in Comprehensive Planning from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands. Dr. Dutt has Authored, Co-Authored, Edited or Co-Edited 23 books, more than 80 journal articles and 60 book chapters. His research has focused on the regional development, planning and urban geography of South Asia, Southeast Asia, China, Holland and England. Dr. Dutt has worked on issues related to medical geography, tropical diseases and AIDS. Dr. Dutt is a Fulbright Scholar, Ford Foundation Research Fellow and received the distinguished research award of the Regional Planning Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers. He retired in 2005 after 35 years at the university. In his leisure time Dr. Dutt enjoys writing.
