Burbank, CA, October 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Editors’ Lounge returned from summer hiatus on September 26th to an audience of eager post-production professionals ready to learn about all the latest updates and new tools from Avid, EditShare and AlterMedia’s Studio Suite. The evening kicked off with dinner, networking and classroom style seminars being taught throughout the evening. Two lucky raffle winners walked away with a copy of Media Composer 8 licenses courtesy of Avid and a Lightworks version 12 license courtesy of EditShare.

Avid’s Solution Specialist Michael Krulik gave attendees an up close look at the new features in the latest version of Avid Media Composer, including the Avid Image Sequencer for DPX files, new trimming and copy tools in the timeline and how to create multiple audio mix downs along with many more time saving features, Media Composer also now gives editors the capability to acquire, manage, edit and deliver 4K media faster and more efficiently than ever, whether working on premises or in the cloud. Krulik also explained how the new Avid DNxHR extensible media codec makes it possible to perform high-res editorial within HD-capable infrastructures by allowing editors to easily scale files from proxy to mastering resolutions using full high-res rasters. Media Composer with native 4K editing, and the new Avid DNxHR codec, are planned for release in Q4 2014.

EditShare Senior Sales Engineer Jesse Adams pulled out all the stops, showing the company’s new Flow v3.1 Media Asset Management and EditShare Storage v7 releases. Touted as EditShare’s biggest storage release to date, Adams demonstrated how post facilities can better manage media and operations with new EditShare Storage v7 features such as a Quality of Service/Bandwidth Reservation system (that reserves bandwidth for high-priority activities) and Active Directory Single Sign-On. He also demonstrated how Flow v3.1’s new AAF import opens up round-trip metadata workflows for Avid editors, including the ability to restore archived clips based on AAF file metadata and immediate playback of proxy versions of Avid sequences in Flow Browse or AirFlow.

Joel Stoner, founder and CEO of AlterMedia made his first appearance at the Editor's Lounge to demonstrate the latest version of their leading studio and production management software, Studio Suite Xi. Studio Suite Xi, launched in September, is an entirely new build, extensible to the web, iOS devices and the desktop. In his presentation, Joel demonstrated its redesigned, elegant user interface, focused on simplicity and clarity, and delivering features and workflows that eliminate the tedium and stress of all the details necessary for managing the daily business of production and post production services. Although Studio Suite Xi fell slightly outside the focus of 'editing' software, quite a few eyes were opened when they saw how tightly Studio Suite Xi integrates video production workflows into the business workflow, and vice/versa. Joel commented, "It was great to finally show our stuff at the Editor's Lounge, and great to see editors appreciating the value of tracking the business details of production."
