About Audrey E. Fitzgerald
Ms. Fitzgerald has over 50 years experience in the field of education. She was the owner of Reading Learning Lab which is a national learning lab consulting in Language Arts with a focus on reading and student achievement in all subject areas. She specialized in Language Arts and World Language. Though retired from the learning lab, Ms. Fitzgerald continues to serve as a reading specialist and staff consultant. She also tutors in all subjects, including math. She was honored for being an outstanding site leader for the state of Michigan overseeing the implementation and progress of Reading Recovery in school districts. This is a successful nationwide program developed to assist first graders having difficulty learning to read to reach grade level by the end of first grade. It is a very intense and structured program with outstanding results. It is implemented by highly trained staff members and was monitored by Ms. Fitzgerald. She worked with two small inner city school districts. Born on August 15, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, she received a B.A. in 1955 and an M.A. in 1959 from Western Michigan University. In her spare time Ms. Fitzgerald enjoys reading and travel.
