Charles E. Cox, of Tampa, Florida, has recently been recognized as the Bio of the Month for April 2015 in America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Surgical Oncology.

Farmingale, NY, November 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Charles E. Cox, M.D. is a Professor of Surgery and the Director of the Breast Cancer Program at the University of South Florida. Dr. Cox’s undergraduate and medical school training began at the University of Utah. He completed his surgical residency and 2 years of surgical oncology fellowship at Duke University. His career was started at the University of Florida and there, the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program was initiated under his direction. He later moved the program to the Mofitt Cancer Center & Research Institute at the University of South Florida. www.usf.edu Dr Cox has been recognized as a doctor’s doctor by his colleagues and is listed in the Who’s Who in America. He has also been cited in the Best Doctors in America, Southeast Region. In addition, he was named the Moffitt Cancer Center Physician of the Year 1999 and McCann Foundation Endowed Professor of Breast Surgery. Dr. Cox and his colleagues were instrumental in the research and training in the technique for Lymphatic Mapping and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in breast cancer patients. They also developed the Intra-Operative Touch Preparation Cytology for the evaluation of surgical margins which has shown a high success rate in breast conservation and lymph node sparing. As a result of being an exchange student in Chile, he is bilingual in English and Spanish. Dr. Cox is bishop and clergyman of the LDS faith and is a mentor to breast cancer programs in South America, Eastern Europe and China. His leisure time is spent hunting, fishing, furniture making, home repairs and remodeling.
