HCC Embedded Adds MISRA-Compliant HTTP, SMTP, NTP, and SNMP Protocols with Security to Embedded Networking Stack

High-performance embedded stack combines speed and memory utilization with verifiable quality for improved reliability and faster time to market

Nurnberg, Germany, February 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- HCC Embedded has extended its MISRA-compliant TCP/IP stack to include HTTP, SMTP, SNTP/NTP, and SNMP protocols. All come with security options enabling them to be used with HCC’s verifiable TLS and Encryption Manager.

With these additions, the embedded developer gains access to an extensive range of network protocols, all supplied with rigorous MISRA-compliance reports and a full test suite that verifies target functionality. This level of quality, security, and test improves reliability and shortens time to market.

HCC’s network stack is provided with process verification documents such as a fully MISRA-compliant static- and dynamic-code analysis report. Full software life-cycle documentation is also available and can be licensed as a separate component. This verification proves that the software has been developed and tested according to strong process rules and is not vulnerable to the weaknesses and security breaches that can result as a consequence of ‘freestyle’ coding.

Dave Hughes, HCC Embedded CEO, said, “Too many networking quality and security issues are caused by lack of process and methodology in the stack development. HCC takes high-quality software seriously and provides evidence to support the integrity of the code.”

Highlights
· HTTP/HTTPS, a highly flexible web-server solution for embedded systems, enables the creation of dynamic content within a highly secure environment.
· SNMPv2 and SNMPv3 provide embedded devices with secure network management capability.
· NTP (and its subset SNTP) provides time synchronization to the accuracy required by the developer.
· The SMTP client is a full-featured implementation with support for multiple encodings and security.

All protocols are developed to their respective RFCs and use test suites that verify not only interoperability but also the integrity of the code.

The addition of time synchronization protocols greatly extends the range of applications that can be implemented using the stack. Embedded HTTP server and mail functionality with such a high level of documented quality is rare, and the reliability and quality of applications that use it are greatly enhanced.

The HCC TCP/IPv4 and IPv6 implementations are designed especially for microcontrollers, ensuring a low-memory footprint that can be as low as 20kB ROM / 8kB RAM. It uses a standard socket interface that eases integration to many embedded applications.
