Metrics Contract Services Expands Staff with New Senior Formulation Scientist

Michael R. Mascarenas provides clients with quality formulation and process development of early-phase oral dosage forms.

Greenville, NC, July 15, 2015 --( Metrics Contract Services (Metrics) has added a new senior formulation scientist to its growing staff of pharmaceutical experts.

Among his other duties, Michael R. Mascarenas is responsible for the formulation and process development of early-phase oral dosage forms, and oversees the manufacture of clinical trial materials to support client-sponsored research studies.

Before joining Metrics, Mascarenas worked as a principal process expert with Sandoz, where he planned and executed engineering, scale up, abbreviated new drug application and registration batches, and in-sourced DEA schedule products. Prior to that, he worked as a formulation scientist with Glatt Air Techniques. Mascarenas’ areas of expertise include Lean Six Sigma methodologies and Quality by Design principles.

Joining Metrics represents a homecoming for Mascarenas, who worked as a development scientist and analytical scientist at the company from 2004 through 2006. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in biology from East Carolina University.

Formulation development scientists at Metrics bring, on average, 17 years of career experience to their roles. The team has successfully produced clinical trial materials for 140 first-time-in-man, fast-track studies, and routinely commits to a 16- to 24-week timeline from receipt of a well-characterized new chemical entity to shipment.
