The untimely sudden demise of the former President of India and Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a major loss to India, Mr. Harikishan Eppanapally, the Chairman of the board for Lead India 2020 Foundation (USA) said in New Jersey on Monday.

Edison, NJ, July 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, and the far-sighted builder of India's space and missile program, passed away in Shillong on Monday. The Government of India had bestowed on him the Bharat Ratna in recognition of his contribution to India's space and missile program and building the scientific temperament in the country. Dr. Kalam was a rocket scientist and served as president of India (2002-2007) and created a road map for India called Vision2020 to see India as a developed nation by the year 2020.

He worked relentlessly with a focus to Provide Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) to develop the nation holistically and reduce the migration of rural population to urban areas. Dr. Kalam selflessly worked for the development of the country by inspiring millions of children and youth by travelling extensively even after his tenure as president of India. In the same mission, he attended the Indian Institute Management IIM, Shillong–India. "It is really unfortunate we lost him all of a sudden while addressing the gathering on the topic of 'Livable Planet' due to a massive cardiac arrest, we miss him dearly," Mr. Eppanapally said.

His Excellency Dr. Kalam was the Chief Mentor for the Lead India 2020 Movement www.Li2020.org with a focus on transforming the youth of India into responsible citizens and engage them in development of the nation to see India as a developed nation by 2020. The Lead India team will continue its efforts to make his dreams into a reality, Mr. Eppanapally said, who worked very closely on the Lead India 2020 Movement with His Excellency Dr. Kalam.
