Karen Breidert Receives Sweet Adelines International 2015 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Tulsa, OK, October 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Sweet Adelines International is pleased to announce Karen Breidert as the recipient of its 2015 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As a 43-year member, Breidert has committed her time and expertise to advancing the mission of the organization, serving as International President from 1998 to 1999. Under her leadership, Sweet Adelines gained two international chartered chapters: Quartet of Nations Region 31 (England, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands) and Sweet Adelines New Zealand Region 35.

Breidert is now a retired Master Director and current Master International Faculty member, traveling around the world, coaching and teaching other choruses on every topic from choreography and directing to emcee skills and time management. She is also a two-time International Champion Quartet member with Jubilation Quartet (1985) and “The Buzz” Quartet (2005), which still performs together, and a lifetime member of Sweet Adelines International Spirit of the Gulf chorus.

Current International President Marcia Pinvidic will present Breidert with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 International Convention and Competition in Las Vegas this October. Breidert says receiving the award holds special significance as she was president during the award’s inaugural year, when she bestowed it to the first ever recipient, Renee Craig, in 1998.

“This award has made me feel humble, grateful, nostalgic, and a wee bit old!” Breidert says. “When I look back at my years of traveling, teaching, coaching, singing, directing and administrative work, I have to say the pleasure was all mine! And I'm not done! Profound gratitude to Marcia and the entire Board of Directors for selecting me and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have touched my heart and my life in such a harmonious way.”

Sweet Adelines International is one of the world’s largest singing organizations for women, with membership of almost 25,000 and choruses and quartets across the globe. Its members have been singing four-part a cappella harmony since 1945.
