About Kathleen Urban
Ms. Urban is a certified rehabilitation nurse (CRRN) and certified case manager (CCM) and the Director of all Rehab Services at Garden City Hospital (a Prime Health Care Hospital) which provides rehabilitation in the acute inpatient rehab setting, outpatient and inpatient areas in Garden City, Michigan. She specializes in general rehabilitation services and has extensive knowledge and experience in mobility progression, team building, stroke prevention, fall prevention, restraint reduction and patient safety. She has served on the national and local boards of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN), (MI-ARN), as well as past treasurer of the Michigan Association of Medical Program Rehabilitation Administrators (MAMPRA) and secretary of the Quality Association Nursing network (QANN). With nearly thirty years in rehabilitation, including developing the inpatient rehabilitation unit from the ground floor, her professional contributions are recognized with several awards including the ARN National Nurse Manager Role Award (2005) and runner-up and the Nightingale Award in Administration (2008). She is both a national and local speaker at numerous rehabilitation nursing and management conferences and was a contributing author to "Gerontological Nursing: Competencies for Care" (second edition).

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Urban obtained her nursing diploma from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing, a B.S.N. from Madonna University and completed graduate studies at Central Michigan University, before obtaining her M.S. from Belford University in 2000. In her spare time she enjoys volunteer work, travel, theater, opera, baseball, writing and family activities. Rehabilitation is her passion and she is always looking at avenues to combine her interests.
