Spain Leads in Fibre Broadband Among the EU5 Markets

As per InfoCom’s TELESEEQ Dataroom service, Spain recorded the highest fibre broadband share among the five largest markets in Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK).

Stuttgart, Germany, July 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- As per InfoCom’s TELESEEQ Dataroom service, Spain recorded the highest fibre broadband share among the five largest markets in Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK). With more than 22% of its 13.2m fixed broadband subscribers already availing fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) or fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) service as of end-2015, this represents a significant increase from the previous year where the country’s fibre broadband share is only at around 12%. InfoCom expects Spain’s fibre broadband share to expand further by end-2016, as the increasing take-up of bundled FTTH offers with aggressive promotions (e.g. discounted subscription fees for new customers) and continuous fibre optic rollout (e.g. Orange’s partnership with the Gava City Council) will propel its growth. Meanwhile, InfoCom observed through its Telecom Trends & Evolution report that while the other large markets also experienced some growth in fibre broadband, alternative high speed broadband technologies such as VDSL/VDSL2/VDSL vectoring as well as DOCSIS 3.0 are increasingly becoming popular which help stabilise or even expand xDSL and/or cable broadband subscriptions in some markets.

InfoCom’s TELESEEQ Interactive Dataroom is comprised of the entire telecommunications and related markets’ data, broken down into smaller product categories (up to 3rd level granularity), into region and country values, as well as according to consolidated groups and company values. The system is accessible on-line with a powerful interface: Search for the data, View them live, Generate a chart, Extract and Download. What’s more, an Analyst support that is free of charge.
