Professional of the Year, Elaine F. McConkey, Has Now Been Selected as a Roundtable Member for 2016 by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals

Elaine F. McConkey of Waldorf, Maryland, has been recognized by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals as Professional of the Year for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Utility. She has now been selected as a Roundtable Member for 2016.

Farmingdale, NY, July 28, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Elaine F. McConkey is Treasury and Fixed Asset Director of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative. She earned her B.S. at the University of Maryland and specializes in fixed assets and treasury management. www.smeco.coop SMECO is the utility company that services Southern Maryland. They offer many programs to service their community including electric service, from surge protection and energy use checkups to high-tech thermostats. They also offer a mobile app to report outages and offer several conservation programs. In 1967, she came to SMECO as an Accounting Clerk. During the subsequent years, she worked her way up from this position to Chief Accounting Clerk, Accounting Manager and finally to Treasury and Fixed Asset Director. During this time, she worked closely with Engineering to complete the necessary paperwork for construction contracts. She also input assets into their old asset system and did any necessary journal entries to update the general ledger with necessary information. She was the project manager to change over from their legacy fixed asset system to their new asset system on Power Plant. She works closely with Engineering and other members of Accounting to ensure that the information housed in their Power Plant asset system is current and accurate. She participates in providing data for loan applications to Federal agencies and monitors the cash flow. She also makes necessary requests for loan funds when needed. She works closely with her Treasury Services Manager to ensure that their receipts come in and their payables go out on a timely basis. Ms. McConkey is affiliated with the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives; is a past Board Member of the Hospice for Charles County; is a member of the Finance Committee for Hospice; is a past Board Member of the Habitat for Humanity in Charles County and is currently funding 2 children in the Save the Children program. Ms. McConkey’s leisure time is spent playing golf and photography.
