Get Your Licks on Route 66® Cross-Country Pet Adoption Tour

Marsing, ID, August 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The eighth annual cross-country pet adoption tour Get Your Licks on Route 66® kicks off September 10, 2016 at LA Animal Services in Van Nuys, California with spokesperson Brandon McMillan the Emmy award-winning TV host of the weekly CBS series Lucky Dog in attendance.

FIDO Friendly magazine publisher Susan Sims and her husband Greg, travel from LA to Chicago each year to support adoption events. Says publisher Sims, “It’s a great way to shed light on the plight of homeless pets and in the first seven years, we have helped place over 5,000 pets in to new forever homes.”

The Sims bring a giant spinning wheel to each event where attendees can donate to spin and win prizes provided by sponsors of the tour. At the end of each event, all monies raised are given to the shelter.

“We started our magazine FIDO Friendly 16 years ago as we love traveling with our pets so each issue includes hotel and destination reviews where both you and your dog are welcome. Because we are passionate about rescue and are traveling already, eight years ago I came up with the idea for the tour as a way to give back and make a difference,” says Sims.

The Sims bring along their two rescue hounds and place them at dog daycare while they work their events. “We are on the road nearly two months so that’s too long to leave the boys at home. Besides, our slogan is Leave No Dog Behind®” says Sims.
