Haven Holidays Donates 88 Holidays in Memory of Family Holiday Association Co-Founder

Haven Holidays has donated 88 family holidays worth a total of £10,000 to the Family Holiday Association (FHA) in memory of the charity's co-founder.

London, United Kingdom, January 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Haven Holidays has donated 88 family holidays worth a total of £10,000 to the Family Holiday Association (FHA) in remembrance of Patrick Laurance, co-founder of the charity.

Mr Laurance, who passed away aged 88 on January 11, founded the charity in 1975 with his wife Joan to help give families in need the chance to have a break away.

Naomi Woodstock, Haven’s PR Manager, said, “We have always been proud of our association with the FHA and were very sad to hear of Pat’s death.

“In remembrance of him and recognition of his outstanding achievements and remarkable career, we would like to extend our partnership with the FHA by offering an additional 88 free holidays this year – one for each year of Pat’s life.

“We hope that 88 families will be able to enjoy a special treat on one of our holiday as a testament to all that Pat achieved during his lifetime.”

John McDonald, FHA Director, said, ”This generous gesture from Haven Holidays means that around 370 people will be able to enjoy what for many will be their first ever break away together as a family.”

About the FHA

For over 30 years, the Family Holiday Association has been working to provide breaks for the most needy families in our communities. The FHA helps families in desperate circumstances: those dealing with disability, bereavement, poverty, mental health problems, inadequate housing, or abuse.

The chance to enjoy a break away from the stresses of daily life is something that many of us take for granted, but thousands of UK children have never had the chance to enjoy a holiday.

Typically, a family granted an FHA break spends a week staying in one of our caravans in a UK seaside town. We have found that these simple holidays can help strengthen relationships within the family and give family members a fresh perspective, providing them with the motivation to make positive changes to their lives.

“The families I know who have taken up the benefits of a holiday through FHA…have found them to be of tremendous benefit, particularly I note the long term benefits for the children as often holidays are amongst the few positive memories they have of family life.”
- Referring welfare agent, 2007

The FHA is registered charity no. 800262.
