She became involved in the insurance business when she was 35 years old. From there, she became a Federal Benefits Specialist where she was contracted by several major companies. Ms. Conerly is a member of the National Rifle Association, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Louisiana Notarial Association and the First Southern Methodist Church. Her leisure time is spent cooking, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and riding horses. She is a classical pianist (has taken piano lessons since she was 5 years old).
