Laura Rathe Fine Art Presents Devine / Stallman: Curvilinear

LRFA Presents New Artworks in Two-Person Exhibition in Dallas, Texas

Laura Rathe Fine Art Presents Devine / Stallman: Curvilinear
Dallas, TX, November 09, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Dallas Design District gallery, Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA), announces the exhibition “Curvilinear,” featuring new works by acclaimed artist duo, Stallman, and renowned metal sculptor, Matt Devine, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 19th from 5-8pm.

Though they work in different mediums, Stallman and Devine share an interest in transforming their materials into extraordinary works that emphasize curvilinear forms and give the impression of graceful movement. This will be LRFA’s first exhibition featuring work by Stallman. “Curvilinear” will be on view through December 31, 2016.

About The Artists
Based in the Pacific Northwest, artists Stephen Stum and Jason Hallman (collectively known as Stallman) meld their creative energies to produce mesmerizing works that fall somewhere between the categories of painting and sculpture. Since 2012, they have collaborated on their Canvas on the Edge series, which molds painted strips of canvas into compositions that shift in color and form depending on the viewer’s perspective. The strips’ painted edges combine to create elevated line drawings that recall cellular processes and organic forms drawn from nature.

Represented in five states, Stallman have exhibited their work in such far-flung cities as New York, Seattle, Chicago, Miami, and Laguna Beach, California. Recently awarded the Carol Duke Artist Award of Excellence from the Bellevue Art Museum ARTSfair, their work has also been featured in many publications, including Vanguard Seattle, My Modern Met, LUXE Interiors + Design, and Fahrenheit magazine.

Metal sculptor and self-taught artist, Matt Devine began honing his skills in 1995. His nonrepresentational sculptures composed of clean and harmonious forms appear weightless though fabricated from heavy metals such as steel, aluminum, and bronze. Devine’s practice is an ongoing search for harmony and balance in the face of a chaotic information-saturated culture. As he finds meditative space in his working process, so too does Devine hope that his approach to minimalist forms and controlled multiplicity guides viewers into a space of calm.

Devine’s work is currently on display in highly regarded galleries across the country. His creations can be found in private American collections from Los Angeles to New York and in international collections on five continents. Based in Petaluma, California, Devine has also recently expanded his scope to include the design and fabrication of large-scale public works on display in prominent urban settings.
