)-- Just after a year of buying advisory firms totaling $150M in assets under management, VisionQuest Wealth Management announced its most recent acquisition of Alcus Financial Group in Charleston, South Carolina.
Alcus, which will undergo a name change to VisionQuest Wealth Management, was founded by Joe Baker. Mr. Baker joins VisionQuest as a partner and holds the title of Senior Vice President. He will assume the responsibility for the firm’s continued growth in the Charleston area and he will be leading the firm’s effort to enhance VisionQuest’s platform around retirement plans for business owners. Alcus Financial Group’s clientele primarily comprises of business owners and physicians and is focused on the management of client retirement plans.
“It was an obvious and very good move for me to make,” Baker says, but neither he nor VisionQuest would discuss terms of the private acquisition.
VisionQuest’s CEO, Stephen Peters, stated “this latest transaction will strengthen our company as we continue to execute on our organic and strategic growth plans.” Although he declined to provide details, Mr. Peters said that the acquisition momentum for VisionQuest Wealth Management will continue and he expects this acquisition to be followed up with one or two more in late 2016 or early 2017.
