A typical tour consists with arrival in beautiful Guaymas. Jon Jen can pick you up at the airport, and then drop off at the hotel or place of stay. At that point Jon Jen will familiarize their clients with the boat and the boat crew. The captain will familiarize their clients with the boat layout, equipment, and on-board amenities. Customers can then go back to the hotel and get ready for the evening meal with the captain and wife, and some local fresh fish, cooked Mexico style.

The next morning it's an early start. After departure from the dock, fishing commences on the way to Tortuga Island and troll around it (depending on the time of year). Tortuga is a beautiful, uninhabited island with little wildlife, completely surrounded by big volcanic rocks, which funnels some of the finest of fish and fishing in the Sea of Cortez - Marlin, Dorado, Wahoo, Tuna, Yellowtail, Cabrilla, and Grouper abound.

Then on to the small fishing village of Santa Rosalia and port where the client checks into the accommodations and gets ready for an evening fare of the day's catch prepared any desired style. A review of the day’s fishing commences, followed by retiring for the evening and getting ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day three starts with a light snack, then off to points previously discussed - looking for that all important area not covered yesterday - fishing, fishing, and more fishing. After a few hours on the water, then it’s back to Santa Rosalia for lunch. However, the tour is always flexible since it is the customer’s tour. Options include staying out over lunch with snorkeling and/or fishing while anchored. The customer can spend some afternoon time in Santa Rosalia for some rest and relaxation, including some rest time in the hotel before an evening fish meal and further discussions about the next day of fishing.

On the return trip, the client can fish while taking in the view of the breath-taking mountains from the Sea of Cortez stretching for 25 miles. After docking and checking into the hotel for the final night, the client can have a farewell dinner with the captain and his wife, eating (guess what?) fish and more fish.

During the winter there is no fishing from San Carlos to Santa Rosalia, since the water temperature is around 58 F and there are no fish. Instead, Jon Jen Charters will stop in Tortuga or San Marcos Island to troll around for Grouper, Cabrilla, and/or Yellowtails. During the summer Jon Jen Charters will troll all the way down to Santa Rosalia.
