Virtual Conference Brings Best Minds in Massage to Your Living Room

Hoboken, NJ, November 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- More than 50 of the top names in massage and bodywork will appear in your office, living room, or clinic during the first-ever virtual World Massage Conference, which will take place Nov. 17 through Nov. 22.

From John Upledger and Tom Myers to Bruno Chikly and Bonnie Prudden, the list of World Massage Conference presenters is packed with pioneers. In response, more than 8,000 massage therapists have already registered to attend.

“It’s going to be the largest event in massage history,” said Eric Brown, World Massage Conference Director. “The virtual venue allows us to bring together the best minds in massage from all around the world.”

Cortiva Institute is proud to be part of this groundbreaking event and is sponsoring the first full day of the World Massage Conference. Cortiva faculty members will receive free registration, and current Cortiva students will receive a 50 percent discount. Graduates of Cortiva schools, as well as those enrolled in current Cortiva continuing education courses will receive 10 percent off the conference fee, which ranges from $59 to $199.

“The World Massage Conference marks a move in the industry to provide online training to massage therapists,” said Patrick Pheasant, Cortiva Institute Corporate Director of Continuing Education and Online Training.

The business and ethics courses within the core curriculum at Cortiva were recently converted into the online format, expanding the options of students and staff. The World Massage Conference places further focus on the Web as a valuable forum for massage education.

“Attending the conference will enhance the business, technology and massage skills of our staff, students and alumni,” Pheasant said.

Cortiva Institute – Boston School President Dianne Polseno will present a workshop entitled “Marketing Your Greatest Asset — You!” during the first day of the conference.

“This is n exciting time to be working in massage therapy education and to present to this group,” Polseno said. “The World Massage Conference presenters are experts in the field, and it’s a privilege to be among such great leaders.”

Each seminar is offered online and each presentation may be saved by participants for further viewing. Attendees may also listen to the lectures by phone.

“The online format provides massage therapists with access to experts in the field whom they might otherwise not have a chance to hear,” Brown said. “Not only that, but with the use of technology, therapists can actually interact with the presenters and ask them questions.”

The first day of the World Massage Conference will cover business concepts and the following five days will focus on techniques, technology, research, caring and treatment, respectively.
