New Integration Between QAvantage and MindManager Brings Visual Toolset to Software Requirements Management

Project Managers Can Now Drag and Drop to Elicit, Capture and Manage with RTIME 5.5 and MindManager 8

Red Bank, NJ, February 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- QAvantage, together with Mindjet, announced today that a newly released version of RTIME is now integrated with MindManager, a breakthrough in visual requirements management that allows business analysts and software product managers to view and manipulate product requirements in a sophisticated visual diagram. Bi-directional interoperability between the two products brings new levels of visual clarity to project plans so ideas can be more effectively communicated and more quickly understood in a larger context.

MindManager now automatically generates interactive visual maps of requirements and dependencies based on data in the RTIME centralized database. With a single click, changes to the map are updated in RTIME, or the map can be converted to a formatted requirements document in Microsoft Word.

“MindManager provides one of the best techniques available to elicit, capture and develop software requirements because it enables a very fluid translation to and from other standard forms like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint,” said QAvantage COO Daniele Chenal. “You can manipulate and update your requirements in a visual map, making MindManager a powerful user interface for RTIME.”

Once a requirement set is refined, it can be placed in RTIME’s centralized database where progress throughout the estimation, prioritization, approval, development and test lifecycle can be fully traced and monitored. The complete set of requirements can be displayed in a mind map and altered by dragging and dropping map parts on the MindManager visual canvas.

“QAvantage has been quick to recognize the power of providing requirements management tools in MindManager’s dynamic visual environment,” said Neil Mendelson, Mindjet vice president of products. “QAvantage has made excellent use of MindManager’s open interface to make this breakthrough possible, giving project managers and teams using Mindjet Connect an invaluable collaboration tool that saves time, money and resources.”

The RTIME 5.5 release is the realization of a very important goal for QAvantage. Chenal added, “One of the critical transitions in quality software development is transforming what is often an ephemeral set of needs surrounding a business problem into a highly structured set of ideas which can then be economically rendered in a usable software solution. Unfortunately, most of today’s software development management tools are collections of point products that can easily lose the focus on the business problem at hand. With this integration to MindManager 8, we believe we’ve tied a powerful, visually oriented interface for requirements to a single database, requirement centric solution. It’s a combination that makes for crisp and well understood requirements that can be readily communicated and monitored though the full lifecycle.

RTIME 5.5 is available for trial from QAvantage and MindManager Pro version 8 is available for trial from Mindjet’s website.
