Michael L. Buckner Law Firm Announces Launch of Service for Prep Schools Under NCAA Review

Non-traditional secondary and prep schools will benefit from the legal, consulting and investigative services offered by the Michael L. Buckner Law Firm. The Buckner Law Firm will leverage its experience as a former NCAA independent consultant to assist clients with navigating the NCAA high school review process.

Pompano Beach, FL, April 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Michael L. Buckner Law Firm today announced the expansion of its education practice area with the launch of the prep school compliance service. The Buckner Law Firm will leverage its legal, investigative and consulting experience representing educational institutions to assist non-traditional secondary and prep schools resolve issues during the NCAA high school review process. The new service will be headed by shareholder Michael L. Buckner, whose service as an independent consultant for the NCAA and NCAA Eligibility Center uniquely qualifies him to advise non-traditional secondary and prep schools on the best course to pursue during the NCAA high school review process.

The NCAA high school review process was initiated after NCAA President Myles Brand convened a national working group in 2005 to study college presidents’ concerns over the academic credentials of students who attend non-traditional secondary and prep schools to meet NCAA eligibility requirements. The high school review process entails a review by NCAA Eligibility Center staff of the backgrounds of non-traditional secondary and prep schools. The staff also conducts on-site visits of selected schools. Courses, grades and graduation from schools that are “not cleared” through the high school review process cannot be used for NCAA initial-eligibility purposes.

The Buckner Law Firm prep school compliance team will provide the following services:

· School policy, process and procedure assessment.
· NCAA high school review process representation.
· NCAA high school appeal process representation.

Mr. Buckner earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations and social sciences and communication from the University of Southern California and a law degree from Florida State University.
