Northern Maine Development Commission Saves $800 Per Month with Whaleback Systems' CrystalBlue Voice™ Service
Northern Maine Development Commission, based in Caribou Maine, has deployed a new business telephony solution from Whaleback Systems to connect its headquarters with two satellite offices located 50 miles away. Using CrystalBlue Voice™, the NMDC has significantly reduced phone expenses while gaining enhanced voice capabilities. The organization is also taking advantage of Whaleback OrcaMeeting for web and audio conferencing and OrcaFax, an e-fax service.
Based in Caribou, Maine, the NMDC provides regional community planning and economic development resources across northern Maine. After facing poor call quality from its previous voice over IP (VoIP) solution, the commission discovered that CrystalBlue Voice could provide a stable, high quality VoIP service to connect its remote offices and communicate with its members. With this service, the NMDC has gained dedicated broadband access and fully featured voice services. The commission’s executive team was pleased to discover that CrystalBlue Voice could save them an average of $800 per month while increasing call fidelity and reliability.
“We’ve gained outstanding voice quality, plus access to productivity tools that are usually only accessible to large enterprises,” said NMDC Executive Director Robert P. Clark. “And since Whaleback manages the quality and reliability of the service centrally, we no longer have to pay a telephony vendor hundreds of dollars each month to troubleshoot network problems. This enhanced communication infrastructure empowers us to better serve our members throughout the region.”
In addition to enhanced voice features such as call forwarding, conferencing, desktop faxing, and unified messaging, the NMDC is using OrcaFax desktop fax service and OrcaMeeting. With OrcaFax, NMDC staff can access voice mail, email, and fax messages, all from their email in-box to minimize the cost and hassle of dialing in to the phone system when they’re on the road. Using OrcaMeeting, employees can easily schedule web and audio conferencing to minimize travel time.
“This deployment serves as a prime example of how a managed service like our CrystalBlue Voice can offer more predictable and consistent quality than a hosted VoIP option,” said David Zwicker of Whaleback Systems. “Even in the most northern reaches of the country, call quality should be bullet proof, which means the elimination of echo, static, garbled speech, one way audio, dropped calls and service disruptions. This can only be achieved with a premise-based solution that can monitor and manage service quality on an end-to-end basis.”
