Mia has taken the rich influence and textures of Jazz, R&B, Soul, and traditional Negro Spirituals, combined with extraordinary musician, and multi-talented producer, Kendall Leonard, together they have cultivated a new sound known as "Jazzy Soul." Jazzy Soul can be described as a mixture of Neo-Soul with strong Jazz influence based on the musical instrumentation.
Many say Mia has created a unique and rich resonance that compares with the likes of Sade, Nina Simone, and Phyllis Hyman. The debut independent release, "Urban Arias" is a tapestry woven between 15 original tracks, and an interpretation of the Negro Spiritual, "Lord, How Come Me Here" newly entitled "Urban Aria." Mia wrote, produced / co-produced all 16 tracks on the album. Paris, France is sure to love her as we do state-side. "Bonne Chance" to Mia Miata, and we wish her many happy returns to the "City of Lights" where she will carry with her the spirits of those devastated by the earthquake in Haiti once under French rule.
