Lennar Sponsors for the Love of Art in Phoenix

National home builder Lennar is sponsoring a unique charity event in Phoenix, combining art and tennis, featuring tennis great John McEnroe and nationally acclaimed contemporary artist, Erick Fischl. The home builder will be selling off its sponsor benefits to raise even more money for charity.

Phoenix, AZ, April 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lennar, one of the nation’s leading homebuilders, is sponsoring For the Love of Art, a unique Phoenix charity event combining tennis and art. Tennis and broadcast ace John McEnroe will team up with his friend Eric Fischl, a world-renowned contemporary artist, to help raise funds to benefit the Phoenix College Erick Fischl Scholars Program and the John and Patty McEnroe Foundation.
“Lennar is very happy to be participating in this event,” said Alan Jones Lennar Arizona Division President. Lennar has also decided to take the primary sponsorship perks, tennis with McEnroe and a private lunch with McEnroe and Fischl and raise additional monies for the event and The Phoenix Art Museum by reselling these special experiences. “We hope to raise an additional $10,000 by doing this," noted Jones.

The April 14 and 15 events take place at the Phoenix Art Museum and the Camelback Village Racquet Club. For more information on the tennis event contact the Village Clubs.

“At a time when budget cuts have eroded funding for the arts, we are honored to help support and encourage future artists,” said Jones. “While many homebuilders have reduced their community outreach, Lennar is able to continue with charitable giving and we are very proud of that.”

While known for his expertise on the tennis court, McEnroe also owns a gallery in New York’s Soho area where he collects and trades art and showcases the work of contemporary artists. McEnroe and Fischl met and became friends in 1992 and the two traded tennis lessons for drawing lessons. An alumnus of Phoenix College, Fischle is considered one of the world’s top contemporary artists.

Lennar was founded in 1954 and is one of the nation’s leading builders of homes for people of all ages. The company has been building in Arizona for more than 45 years and owns considerable land holdings in the state.
