Local Vision, Global Action. Tackling One Ghetto at Time, Through Education for Life Program.

On Sunday April 25, 2010 the team of Coiffeur Inga' Salon will participate in the 3rd annual A.M.F. (Always Moving Forward) Show founded by Scott Bentley of Bentley Salon in Tampa. A.M.F. is a local, progressive and educational event for hairdressers in which they come together in creative unity. As well as presenting artistic work with Bentley's B-Concept Team, Inge Handing and her team will be touching on the importance of the magnificent program that is, Education for Life.

Tampa, FL, April 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Alcholism and drug abuse. Rampant crime. Prostitution. Unsanitary living conditions. Profound unemployment. Illiteracy. Hunger. Few countries are exempt from the corrosive effects of poverty, and fewer still have effectively addressed the enormous social problems caused by economic in equities. The scope of the problem in overwhelming.

Education for Life was founded by Intercoiffure Mondial (a prestigious, international orgranization made up elite salons & hairdressers) in partnership with Wella and L'Oreal. EFL supports cosmetology training programs in disadvantaged areas, provides training in hairdressing to young people and equips them with the skills needed to build a future in an otherwise bleak environment.

Inge Handing owns Coiffeur Inga' Salon in Tampa Bay, Florida. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Intercoiffure America/Canada and has accepted the position of Education for Life Delegate for the USA. "After seeing an EFL creative team presentation, I resolved to support this program heart and soul. The fact that these creative teams have been able to overcome such profound disadvantages and present such amazing work is astounding" says Handing.

How can you help? Currently, Intercoiffure member salons are taking the lead and spearheading EFL fund raising events with all salons in their communities. Handing's goal is to not soley reach out to salons in the area but to gain support from local schools, media outlets and really, the community as a whole. A large goal is to establish EFL mentoring programs in the United States. "Beginning support in a larger area, like Tampa Bay, would be a great way to get the backing this program really needs and help it to flourish; not only here locally, but throughout the entire U.S." says Handing.
