Organizations Unite Worldwide for Historical Peace Day

Tuesday September 21st is Peace Day, the internationally recognized annual day of non-violence and cease-fire declared by the United Nations. Peace in Our Lifetime is helping to unite organizations worldwide by hosting events around the planet to bring awareness to the observance of this Peace Day, 2010.

London, United Kingdom, September 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- “A Day of Gratitude and Thanks,” is the theme presented this year that urges a shift in consciousness, observing the peace ordinary people bring to life everyday. Peace in Our Lifetime is helping to unite over 100 non-profit organizations worldwide with events in London and abroad, broadcasting live through hundreds of media outlets, websites, social networking sites and live web television including a dedicated channel on PeaceDay.tv.

Celebrities and leaders such as President Obama, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Nelson Mandela will be voicing their support along with over 100 NGO’s Including Amnesty International and the Stand Up Campaign on http://PeaceDay.tv.

Key peace organizations such as Peace Jam, Goodwill Treaty, Imagine Peace, Cercle de Pax, Peace Day TV and WICO represent hundreds of millions of individuals in 107 countries that are already standing together with Peace in Our Lifetime to promote and celebrate this Day of Gratitude and Thanks, and the UN International Day of Peace. Other partners include Peace Day Parade in Hawaii, The One Event, Just Giving, Global Peace Festival and Love is All We Need.

Among hundreds of events taking place worldwide on the 21st of September, Peace in Our Lifetime is hosting ‘Parties for Peace’ in the UK and USA with an international lineup of musicians. Mike Lindup of Level 42, Kuljit Bhamra OBE, John Young, Two Spot Gobi, Ricardo Garcia and Tony Moore are expressing their support for this initiative by performing at the London party at The Bedford, Balham SW12. Performers in the USA at Melody Hall in Bellingham, WA include Shawn Gallaway, Teague Kernan, Altino Brothers, Rock Solomon and Blackout Alliance, with other artists to be confirmed.

These performances will be broadcast live by Peace in Our Lifetime, and also via Peace Day TV and 3D virtual world Second Life at the Blarney Stone SIM. Peace Day TV has gifted Peace in Our Lifetime their own TV station which will run alongside theirs, using the new pioneering ‘peace cloud’ IT technology.

The Peace Day TV Global Broadcast 2010 is being promoted by over 100 participating organizations such as the United Nations, Pathways to Peace, Amnesty International, Stand-Up Campaign, UNICEF, World Food Program, ONE and Water.org. In support of these organizations, artists such as Bono, Annie Lennox, Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney, Lenny Kravitz, Angélique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Harry Belafonte, The Wailers and Peter Gabriel, together with global leaders and messengers for peace such as Nelson Mandela, Jane Goodall, President Obama, Ban Ki-moon, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Bob Geldof, Bill Clinton, Princess Hussein of Jordan, Sean Connery, Jimmy Carter, Tom Hanks, P Diddy and many more will be appearing on the 2010 broadcast (http://peaceday.tv/musicians). In 2009 there were over 2 million viewers, and this year with Stand-Up Campaign alone promoting Peace Day TV to over 173 million people, the broadcast is expected to be viewed by an estimated10 – 11 million people worldwide.

Peace in Our Lifetime presents the idea that lasting peace begins with individual people who can and do make a difference every day. In an effort to unite all causes, peoples, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs to take a stand for peace, they have created the Peace Certificate. Their goal is for one billion people to add their voice. Why one billion?
