Betty Williams, Nobel Laureate - "I encourage everyone around the globe to recognize and celebrate International Day of Peace on September 21st. This is a day to honour all of those groups and people who work for peace everyday, all year long. I am a member of the PeaceJam Foundation and we are excited to be supporting Peace In Our Lifetime's "Global United Parties for Peace" in cities around the world and the United Nation's annual global cease fire. Until everyday is Peace Day, it is important that we do all we can to create a safe and just world -- we owe this to children across the globe."
Peace in Our lifetime invited all people to show support for the countless individuals, organizations and volunteers for their time, hard work and valuable donations. To join together and share what has been accomplished and show the world the difference that is being made and what we can continue to do each year together with the continued hard work and support from generous contributors.
This day is for everyone to be recognized and acknowledged. The millions of people who are in full time careers - this is their day: Our Nurses, Doctors, Firemen, Teachers, Policemen, and Lifeguards. Our Community Services, Social Workers and Volunteer Networks, Help-lines and Social Networks. Our national services and those who serve within them; the people who recycle, spend time working to preserve nature and towards conservation; we can all thank people who we care about in our lives and communities.
Peace in Our Lifetime presents the idea that lasting peace begins with individual people who can and do make a difference every day and they have created the Peace Certificate in an effort to unite all causes, peoples, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs to take a stand for peace.
Peace in Our Lifetime invites all people to add their voice to the movement by downloading a free and unique Peace Certificate online at www.PeaceInOurLifetime.org
. Their goal is for one billion people to add their voice. Why one billion? This figure is more than ten percent of the world’s population – a figure that quantum scientists say will create a shift in consciousness.
