Southern University Baton Rouge Offers a New Online Degree Program: Executive Master of Public Administration

Southern University Baton Rouge increases online degree program offerings with the addition of Executive Master of Public Administration

New York, NY, June 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) and Education Online Services Corporation are pleased to announce the launch of a new online degree: the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA). The online degree is housed within the Department of Public Administration which is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. The EMPA is designed specifically for those who already have professional and public sector experience, who are striving for a higher level of education to enable them to access more growth and work opportunities within the public sector.

According to Education Online Services Chairman and CEO, Ezell Brown, “The EMPA prepares graduates to examine global aspects of public administration through specific analytical, managerial, and theoretical lenses which training students in management communication skills and policy analysis. As public policy issues become more complex, the demand for trained policy analysts capable of both quantifying and operationally executing procedural solutions has grown.” Development of leadership skills is a central theme in all EMPA courses.

Applications are currently being accepted for the August 2012 class start. An EMPA applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum 2.7 cumulative undergraduate G.P.A., although a G.P.A. of 3.0 is preferred.

Middle-to-upper level managerial experience includes public sector and non-profit related experience position such as, but not limited to directors, assistant directors, high-level technical staff, senior managers, project/program managers. No undergraduate major or no-pre-requisite coursework is required; however, it is recommended that students be familiar with economics, statistics, and basic tasks and functions in Microsoft Office applications.
