DC Based Muslim Charity to Provide Meals to Hundreds of Needy Families

American Third Pillar Charities (ATPC), a Washington, DC based non-profit organization, will be providing meal boxes to hundreds of families this Thanksgiving. Partnering with the Embassy of the State of Qatar and the House of Praise, ATPC will package “meal boxes” consisting of a full turkey with all the trimmings. The boxes will be delivered on Wednesday evening to preselected families across the District of Columbia.

ATPC worked with DC officials to determine which families are most in need. On Wednesday afternoon volunteers will gather at the House of Praise, 5110 Nannie Hellen Burroughs Ave. NE to assemble the boxes. Once packaging is complete, the boxes will be delivered to the families.

Mr. Mohamad Maraqa, Founder and President of ATPC, said, “This holiday season we all need to do our part to ensure everyone has a hot meal. We want to thank the Embassy of the State of Qatar for their generous donation, and look forward to providing much needed relief to hundreds of families across the DC Metro Area. It is our hope that such efforts continue beyond the holiday season, and we as a community do our part to provide to those in need.”

ATPC was founded in 2011 by local DC Metro residents, and its mission is to provide basic essentials to those in needs, in accordance with the third pillar of Islam "zakat." Over the course of the past two years ATPC has partnered with DC Central Kitchen and other area organizations, on a number of projects, held food drives, and is in the planning stages of providing free medical support to those in need. ATPC focuses its efforts on the DC Metro area, and is a volunteer run organization.

The event is open to the press. For more information please contact Mr. Mohammed Maraq at 1-817-903-7330, or via email at momaraqa@gmail.com.
