Ridgefield, CT, July 31, 2007 --(PR.com)-- “Canvas” Q&A to feature actor Joe Pantoliano and writer/director Joseph Greco at The Ridgefield Playhouse.

In the film “Canvas,” ten-year old Chris Marino (played by Devon Gearhart) just wants to be normal, but his mother’s (Marcia Gay Harden) bouts of paranoia and delusion give new meaning to the term dysfunctional family. “Canvas” will be screened as part of The Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society’s “Premiere Film Series” on Sunday, August 5 at 7:30 p.m. Writer/director Joseph Greco and actor Joe Pantoliano, who plays the father, John Marino, will both be on hand for the Q&A following the film’s showing. All Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society events are hosted by Emmy Award television journalists, Morton Dean, Ira Joe Fisher and Faith Daniels and are sponsored by The Ridgefield Press. This screening is partially underwritten by Cohen and Wolf, P.C. and is a fundraiser in support of the non-profit mental health educational organization, No Kidding, Me Too!

Unable to face his wife's illness or console his son, John begins building a mysterious object in the driveway of their home. He quits his job, the bills pile up, but John compulsively works day and night to build a sailboat, abandoning his son at his darkest hour. Ridiculed at school and terrified that he too will become 'crazy,' Chris is left adrift without a mother or father's support. However, with newfound understanding and respect, father and son work tirelessly to complete the boat together, hopeful that Mary will join them on the maiden voyage.

After graduating from film school at Florida State University, Joseph Greco worked under film director James Cameron during the making of “Titanic.” He was selected to participate in Fox Searchlight’s Searchlab Lecture series for new directors, and his comedy script, “The Big Secret was a winner in the SCR(I)PT Magazine/Open Door Screenplay Competition. Mr. Greco has also produced and directed several corporate projects for The Walt Disney Company.

Joe Pantoliano worked as a waiter in Manhattan while juggling acting classes and auditions. In 1972, he landed the coveted role of stuttering Billy Bibbit in the touring production of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” He later moved to the west coast, and has been thrilling audiences since, on both the large screen and on television, most notably in “The Sopranos.”
