)-- Davis Plastic Surgery, PLLC
, announced today that they are the first plastic surgery office in the Raleigh-Durham area to offer their patients the newest applicator for CoolSculpting by Zeltiq, the CoolFit. The newest applicator in this non-invasive fat reduction process is specifically created for vertical fat bulges and will enable treatment of more areas and more patients than ever before. The CoolFit applicator’s advanced engineering design features a flat applicator cup and larger cooling plates.
"Because we can offer many surgical and non-surgical options for the body, we have the unique ability to customize each treatment plan to fully address and achieve the patient's concerns and aesthetic goals," says Dr. Glenn M. Davis, M.D., F.A.C.S., owner of Davis Plastic Surgery. "CoolSculpting works for both men and women and has been documented to lead to permanent fat reduction, not temporary spot reduction," adds Davis. "The treatment requires no needles, no anesthetic, no downtime, and no compression garments, so patients can immediately resume their normal activities." Davis' patients are given an iPad to browse the Internet, watch a movie, read a book or listen to music during the treatment.
Unlike most other devices, CoolSculpting utilizes a patented method called CryolipolysisTM (the use of precisely controlled cooling to remove fat) that is designed to only kill fat cells. The treatment directly targets the underlying fat, leaving the skin surface and other tissue unaffected. The damaged, dying fat cells then begin a process called "apoptosis" (natural cell death) and gradually begin to shrink and disappear over the next few weeks to months. The Zeltiq Dermal Cooling Device was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on September 15, 2010.
