Virus Protection and Content Security Solution from BowBridge Achieves SAP Certification

As the first vendor, BowBridge supports SAPs new content security interface – also on SAP HANA.

Walldorf, Germany, June 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- For the third time already, SAP certified the virus protection and content security solution “AntiVirus Bridge,” making its manufacturer, Walldorf, Germany based BowBridge Software, the only vendor to support the latest and enhanced content security functionality in the SAP NetWeaver Application Server. While earlier versions of the SAP Virus Scan Interface (VSI) were focused mainly on virus detection in files stored in the SAP database, the current version of the API also helps directly protect SAP applications from MIME attacks and Cross Site Scripting. The latter is being perpetually listed by the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) as among the Top-10 critical vulnerabilities that web-based applications need to address.

“Mission-critical enterprise applications can no longer assume an inherently safe operating environment. They must secure critical attack vectors by their own means,” explains Joerg Schneider-Simon, CTO and co-founder of BowBridge Software. “With AntiVirus Bridge 3.0, SAP customers have the opportunity, for the first time, to protect their applications from content-based attacks.”

With the embedded virus scan engines from McAfee and Sophos, and the now achieved certification on SAP NetWeaver 7.40, the HANA-optimized release of the SAP Web application server, content-scans and virus-scans are performed entirely “in-memory,” and do not introduce a bottleneck to the overall performance of the SAP application, regardless of the underlying database.

AntiVirus Bridge 3.0 for SAP Solutions is available immediately through BowBridge Software and their authorized resellers, and is already protecting numerous SAP installations at leading enterprises worldwide.
