"The Saratov Approach" to Open in Utah Theatres Wednesday, October 9

Salt Lake City, UT, August 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Three Coin Productions announces the release of "The Saratov Approach" on Wednesday, October 9. The film is pending an MPAA rating, but is expected to receive a PG-13 rating for dramatic elements. "The Saratov Approach" will screen at Megaplex Theatres and Cinemark Theatres throughout Utah and then will expand into additional markets.

Written and directed by Garrett Batty (Scout Camp), the film tells the untold, true story of Travis Tuttle and Andrew Propst and their harrowing experience being kidnapped, beaten and held for ransom for nearly a week in Saratov, Russia.

On what seemed like any other day during their service in Russia, missionaries Travis Tuttle (Corbin Allred – Saints & Soldiers) and Andrew Propst (Maclain Nelson – One Good Man) are approached by Nikolai (Nikita Bogolyubov) to meet a friend, Sergei (Alex Veadov - Act of Valor, We Own the Night). But then they experience the unimaginable -- being kidnapped, beaten, and held for ransom. While their family, friends and the world pray for their safe return, Tuttle and Propst fight to survive and in the process learn that there is a greater plan, a different way, a different approach to life – “The Saratov Approach.”

"I’m frequently asked about the meaning behind the film’s title. While I was developing the story, I discovered that people of all faiths responded to the plight of the missionaries and their families. Even President Clinton put forth effort on their behalf. Because of the events in Saratov, people of all faiths drew nearer to, or 'approached' each other, and God, in ways that they may not have previously done,” said Garrett Batty, writer and director of the film.

The film is produced by Batty and Jake Van Wagoner, with Maclain Nelson and Jonathan Turner and distributed by Purdie Distribution.

“This is a bold film about big ideas and depicting the true story of these young men’s struggle to survive. It beautifully and intuitively has you reflecting on your own life and faith as you watch this masterpiece unfold,” said Brandon Purdie, founder of Purdie Distribution. “I think 'The Saratov Approach' is one of those rare, life-changing films that everyone should see.”
