San Diego, CA, March 18, 2014 --(PR.com
)-- What is happening in the land of the midnight sun? To inhabitants of the Arctic, images of polar bears stranded on shrinking ice, thin ice breaking beneath sled dogs’ feet, roads buckling from melted permafrost, and houses slipping into the sea are no longer news. The Arctic is changing fast. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projects ice-free conditions by mid century.
Professor Pat Abbott will speak on the subject of change in the Arctic and what it means for Planet Earth on March 23, at the Balboa Park Club. The event is free and includes a live musical performance by singer/songwriter BJ Jezbera. Everyone is welcome, and childcare will be provided.
