BridgeWave Unveils Multi-Gigabit Millimeter Wave Wireless Backhaul and Front Haul Solutions

Newest 80GHz millimeter wave radios yield ultra-high capacity with spectral efficiencies and link budgets demanded by carriers and mobile operators for next-generation networks.

Santa Clara, CA, October 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of millimeter wave backhaul solutions, today announced the expansion of its Flex4G 80 GHz platform with the introduction of two new products: Flex4G-250 and Flex4G-3000. These products leverage the company’s fifteen-year experience in designing, building and delivering reliable, gigabit V-band (60 GHz) and E-Band (80 GHz) millimeter wave solutions. Flex4G’s highly integrated platform includes advanced carrier-Ethernet features with high performance radio technologies, all designed to minimize total cost of ownership for carrier, service provider and enterprise networks.

In June of this year, Cisco released its latest Visual Networking Index, Global IP Traffic Forecast Update 2013 – 2018. By 2016, Global IP traffic is projected to exceed one zettabyte (1000 exabytes), and expand to 1.6 zettabytes per year by 2018, or roughly 131 exabytes (1000 gigabytes) per month. Given the exponential growth of internet traffic and with an estimated four billion internet users by 2018, operators are in need of a backhaul solution that can quickly and easily scale to meet the bandwidth challenges of tomorrow’s mobile networks.

In response to the increasing demands of higher capacity connections, BridgeWave’s Flex4G-3000 radio provides full-duplex data rates of up to three gigabits per second in a single, zero-footprint all-outdoor solution. With its unique capability of aggregating different traffic types, FL4G-3000 provides interfaces for backhaul and front haul connectivity. Simultaneous transport of legacy TDM (OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4) traffic along with gigabit Ethernet data provides future-proof backhaul for 4G/LTE networks and beyond, while connections to Remote Radio Heads (RRHs) can be easily accomplished with Flex4G-3000’s built-in Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI). With the use of an Orthogonal Mode Transducer (OMT) and second radio, Flex4G-3000 easily supports full-duplex data rates up to six gigabits per second.

For network applications where simple gigabit Ethernet connectivity is required, BridgeWave is pleased to announce Flex4G-250. Driven by its highly-integrated Silicon Germanium (SiGe) architecture, Flex4G-250 yields cost-effective, spectrally efficient 1 Gbps transport in a single 250 MHz channel. Compared to other 1 Gbps millimeter wave solutions in the market, Flex4G-250 supports superior system gain, allowing operators to plan higher reliability and longer range connections on their networks.

As part of the Flex4G product family, both Flex4G-3000 and Flex4G-250 also deliver on the feature sets required by today’s demanding networks. Built-in low latency switches support jumbo frames, while including Quality of Service with eight queues, VLAN support, Provider Bridge (Q-in-Q) and Ethernet ring protection. Comprehensive timing is supported through the use of SyncE and 1588v2 with hardware-based time-stamping for one-step or two-step clocks. Network management is supported through standard SNMP V1, V2C and V3, while enhanced carrier Ethernet OAM management supports Link OAM per 802.3ah, Configuration Fault Management per 802.1ag, and Performance Monitoring per Y.1731. With field pluggable SFPs for single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, or copper interfaces, and the ability to utilize standard DC plant power or Power over Ethernet, BridgeWave’s Flex4G family provides the flexibility and scalability needed for today’s and tomorrow’s networks.

“BridgeWave’s Flex4G family of millimeter wave radios provides differentiated solutions for diverse applications unmatched by other 80 GHz solutions in the market today,” said Joe Schraml, vice president of solutions marketing at BridgeWave Communications. “From multi-gigabit backhaul and front haul with our Flex4G-3000; Flex4G-250’s combination of spectral efficiency and link performance; to our Flex4G-UHA, with its ultra-high availability, BridgeWave’s Flex4G solutions yield the right features at the right price and performance for operators, service providers and enterprise network connections today and tomorrow.”

BridgeWave will be exhibiting at GITEX in Dubai, UAE from October 12 – 16, 2014 in stand Z-H30. To arrange a meeting with BridgeWave executives at the event, please contact BridgeWave at events@bridgewave.com
