Skylight Books Participate in Indies First/Small Business Saturday on November 29th
“One of the Best Bookstores in America” gears up for the shopping season with guest authors serving as honorary booksellers. Writers Geoff Dyer, Attica Locke, Mimi Pond, Steph Cha, Andrea Portes, and Anthony Breznican will be on hand to help with your book buying needs.
Los Angeles, CA, November 21, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Skylight Books (1818 N. Vermont in Los Feliz) looks forward to Indies First/Small Business Saturday on November 29th.
“Indies First” is a movement to support independent businesses and it falls in line with “Small Business Saturday,” which started as a project of American Express. In 2010, card holders were provided with incentives to shop at small, local businesses. It was an opportunity for small businesses to enjoy similar shopping events like “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday.” It has grown into a nationwide call for shoppers to support small or independent stores who are trying to compete with larger chains or online deals. Shoppers can spend $10 on their AmEx card and American Express will give back $10.
“It really has become a big part of our year,” said Kerry Slattery, Skylight’s General Manager. “Authors come in and volunteer to serve as booksellers for the day. It feels like one huge book party!”
Authors Geoff Dyer, Attica Locke, Steph Cha, Mimi Pond, Andrea Portes, and Anthony Breznican will be available to help out.
Skylight Books recently celebrated 18 years of service in Los Angeles. It has grown to become an integral part of the Los Angeles cultural scene providing over a hundred literary events a year, including author readings, book groups, and special programming.
Indies First/Small Business Saturday is on November 29. Skylight will be open during regular business hours, 10am – 10pm.
