Team UTRS Runs in Philadelphia Broad Street Run to Support Veteran’s Organization, The Mission Continues
Cherry Hill, NJ, March 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- This year marks the third time that Team UTRS, comprised of employees, friends and family, will run in the Philadelphia Broad Street 10 Miler to raise funds for The Mission Continues—an organization that empowers our nation’s veterans to successfully transition back into life at home by redeploying their strengths and skills through community service fellowship programs and service platoons throughout the country.

The Mission Continues’ commitment to military personnel and community outreach complements UTRS’s own goals and values. As a technology and engineering firm that provides services and solutions to the Department of Defense and other government agencies, UTRS has many employees who are active-duty reservists or veterans themselves, which made the foundation’s purpose an easy cause to rally behind. And what makes this year’s campaign even more significant for Team UTRS is that members from The Mission Continues’ newly formed Philadelphia platoon will be running as a part of the 20-person team.

Thanks to coordination from Aaron Scheinberg, Northeast Regional Director for The Mission Continues, and help from the organization’s grassroots team, UTRS is excited to be able to toe the line with platoon members to support their growth and community efforts. The company has set up a fundraiser page where anyone can donate to support The Mission Continues and Team UTRS’s efforts for this year’s campaign. The fundraiser page can be found here.

Local fundraising for platoons across the country has been a key factor in the organization’s ability to raise awareness about its mission, recruit members, and mobilize monthly service projects to benefit the community. Projects such as mentoring at-risk youth, fighting to reduce inner-city childhood hunger, or striving to end veteran homelessness are just a few ways that The Mission Continues offers veterans, active-duty service members, and reservists the opportunity to band together for the greater good.

While the Philadelphia platoon was recently launched in fall 2014, there is still a significant need to raise funds and visibility to the surrounding community and local veterans groups about the organization and its efforts. Through fundraisers like Team UTRS’s run in the Philadelphia Broad Street 10 Miler to support the organization, platoons are able to gain the awareness they desperately need to help veterans succeed and the community flourish.

According to Scheinberg, there is, surprisingly, a low concerted effort around veterans groups in the Philadelphia region. The Mission Continues is working to boost veteran outreach with its Philadelphia platoon and through the creation of a platoon in Camden, New Jersey. Each of these platoons will need local sponsorship to stay up and running for veterans to take part in fellowships and participate in service projects.

UTRS is excited to be able to support The Mission Continues’ growth efforts in South Jersey, and is eager to spread the word to area businesses.
