Y explore Yosemite Adventures Announces Agreement with Naturalist David Lukas

Renowned author agrees to lead Naturalist Excursion Series for popular Yosemite adventure company.

Sonora, CA, June 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Y explore Yosemite Adventures (http://yexplore.com), a leading tour provider in Yosemite National Park, has entered into a partnership that is certain to enhance outdoors experiences for their clients. David Lukas has agreed to direct the Yosemite Naturalist Excursion Series for Y explore. Lukas will serve as the lead guide for each tour that he will design with an emphasis on seasonal park highlights throughout the year.

The Naturalist Excursion Series will travel to all corners of the park to discuss an array of topics as Lukas shares knowledge of his favorite places with individuals eager to explore the natural history of Yosemite. Half day hiking tours will journey to locations that may highlight the giant sequoias or birds of Yosemite while the Naturalist Transect will be an all day event exploring several different ecological zones.

David Lukas has been a professional naturalist and writer for almost twenty-five years. Over this time he conducted hundreds of nature tours and has been focusing on natural history programs in the Sierra Nevada for the past fifteen years. He is the author of “Wild Birds of California” and the newly revised “Sierra Nevada Natural History” guidebook, the classic hiker’s handbook to plants and animals of the Sierra Nevada. He also wrote the environment chapter for the Lonely Planet travel guide to Yosemite National Park, and has written two books on birds in addition to several hundred newspaper and magazine articles on numerous nature topics.

David is an accomplished tour leader, with an immense body of knowledge about the natural world and an easy-going style. On his walks he loves to weave together stories about the intriguing lives of plants and animals and how they fit into the landscape. With David you might learn about “theoretical immortality” in quaking aspens, or about the ways that trees “talk” with each other through their roots. Participants in this series will likely learn about the blue colors in a jay feather, how bees shake pollen out of shooting star flowers, or about the inner structures of granite rocks. A day in the field with David Lukas is a day nature enthusiasts will never forget.

Founded in 2006, Y explore Yosemite Adventures offers professionally guided hiking tours and photography workshops in Yosemite National Park. They encourage park visitors to connect with the natural world of Yosemite through outdoor experiences that offer unique photographic opportunities and lasting memories.
