Fresh and Edgy, Modern Cookie Lounge Opens in Austin
Austin, TX, October 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A new concept cookie bakery with a fresh and edgy, modern interior is opening in Austin, Texas at 2222 Rio Grande next week. The Cookie Lounge will be offering customized, fresh out-of-the-oven cookies. Customers will be able to choose from several different doughs and add to them choices from a wide variety of premium “mix-ins”. Pastry chef Mark Chapman, from The Driskol Hotel, and part owner of The Cookie Lounge, will also offer unique cupcakes and bar cookies as a part of their menu. The space was designed by Artifice, artist/design duo, Amy Hovis and Jean Goehring. Their work ranges from the design and build-out of entire spaces (interior and exterior) façades and environments to individual objects and pieces: artwork/furniture/lighting/objects. Artifice did the interior design for the space as well as built the furniture, counters, tables and lighting. They hope to offer a new line of custom furniture from their design of the sofas for this space. Their concept for the look and feel of this space was to have it be extremely minimal and modern, yet playful and comfortable, playing off of the world of modern art. “Despite the small budget for this project, we were able to come up with a space that feels expensive and interesting, with a nod toward the feeling of a tiny art museum,” said Amy Hovis, of Artifice. “We’re excited by the furniture we’ve done for the space and hope that the design and the space itself will help draw in customers.”
