Hundreds of Bake Sales to be Held Nationwide the Week Before Mother’s Day Supporting Women with Breast Cancer
San Diego, CA, February 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Bake for Hope announced today that on May 3 – 9, 2009, it will hold its 100% volunteer-run event which consists of hundreds of bake sales across the country. Scheduled for the week before Mother’s Day, the purpose of this event is two-fold: to provide an easy way for everyone to participate in giving back and to honor mothers and women everywhere by supporting women with breast cancer.

100% of the proceeds will go to local Susan G. Komen foundation affiliates. Members of the project convene at Meetup.com for sign-up. Currently, several major cities including Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Denver, Minneapolis, Seattle, Charlotte, Portland, Tampa and San Diego have dozens of bakers and organizers signed up, with additional cities being added each week.

Businesses can sponsor the event by contributing funds to cover project costs, mostly in the area of advertising. Restaurants and bakeries can participate by donating a percentage of their sales for a day or offering signature items for sale. Grocery stores and other establishments can offer support by providing their place of business as a host location for a bake sale.
