Continuing Education Webinar on Elder Care Victimization: When Trusted Individuals Become Trust Violators

Elder care victimization—the financial abuse by an elderly person’s trusted caregiver or financial representative—is estimated to be at least $2.6 billion dollars, according to a recent report entitled “Broken Trust: Elders, Family and Finances.” And often, it may only be the client’s attorney or financial advisor who can uncover and reveal financial abuse that can be occurring within a client’s trusted relationship.

Los Angeles, CA, December 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Because it is vitally important for attorneys and any persons who help the elderly with their finances (including financial planners, accountants, insurance agents, etc.) to be educated about fraud and financial ethics, a live webinar on “Family Financial Fraud—Piecing Information Together,” will be hosted at 2 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 via online training provider SearchitRight.com. Registrations are being accepted at http://www.searchitright.com/online-training-registration.asp.

The webinar, being presented by Peggy Tracy, MBA, CFP®, CDFA®, CFE, is designed to explain the basics of fraud detection and prevention amongst family members as well as outside sources of fraud. Topics will include:

Elder care fraud and abuse
Understanding theft possibilities with various employed professionals
An explanation of the “fraud triangle”
Solutions to safeguard an elder’s assets and his/her family from misappropriation of funds, forgeries and fraudulent schemes

Tracy, who has extensive training on fraud criminology related to family finances, has made it her personal goal to educate attorneys, financial planners, accountants, insurance planners and anyone else who might be able to spot fraudulent criminal activity involving family finances.
