Layman Named President of U.S.-Based Balfour Beatty Construction Services

Dallas, TX, July 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Robert Van Cleave, chairman and CEO, announced today the in-house promotion of Mark Layman as the new President of Balfour Beatty Construction Services US. In this role, Layman will retain his duties as chief financial officer, while in addition, taking on increased responsibility, providing greater strategic leadership and organizational alignment across the business.

“Together with recent acquisitions, Balfour Beatty Construction Services U.S. represents a business projected to put in place $4.5 billion in annual revenue,” said Van Cleave. “This growth leads naturally to increased business complexity, and creates an opportunity and responsibility to assess our leadership roles.”

“Wanting to put our best foot forward to leverage our growing size and scale meant we needed greater alignment, focus, and leadership at a senior level,” continued Van Cleave. “This created the perfect opening for someone of Mark’s experience, talent, and proven leadership strength.”

In his new role, Layman will continue to serve on the company’s senior leadership team, helping establish and implement national strategies for the U.S.-based construction management, infrastructure, and rail businesses of Balfour Beatty.

During his 22-year tenure with the company, Layman has held positions of increasing responsibility including VP of Finance, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer. He holds a B.B.A in Finance from Texas A & M University and is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association.
