Balfour Beatty Construction to Build New Campus for Palm Beach State College

Balfour Beatty Construction has been selected to build the initial phase of a new west campus for Palm Beach State College in Florida.

Dallas, TX, September 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction has been selected to build the initial phase of a new west campus for Palm Beach State College in Florida. Sitting on approximately 75 acres, the new campus in Loxahatchee Groves will serve thousands of students and faculty when it opens, saving them both time and money by not having to commute to one of the existing campuses located near the Florida coastline along the I-95 corridor.

By working closely with the college and project architect, Zyscovich Architects, Balfour Beatty Construction will be able contribute to the master planning effort of the new campus.

“We’re excited not only to be working with Palm Beach College again, but to have the chance to get involved early in the master planning process,” said Clinton Glass, Senior Vice President of Balfour Beatty Construction. “This allows us to apply our experience and knowledge at the earliest opportunity, when it can provide our client the most long-term value and benefit.”

According to a study from the University of Florida, the state’s population increased by more than 2.8 million between 2000 and 2010. The study further estimates that Palm Beach County will gain more than 300,000 new residents by 2035.

Ultimately, the new campus will include a number of buildings and facilities focused on continuing education, entertainment and recreation to accommodate thousands of future students, faculty and staff as well as the surrounding community. The entire campus will be designed to a minimum LEED Silver certification level and all of its new building will be extremely energy efficient.

Construction on the new campus is scheduled to start in late 2012.

Other projects Balfour Beatty Construction has completed at Palm Beach State College include the Education & Training Center in Lake Worth, the Humanities Buildings in Boca Raton, and the BioScience Center in Palm Beach Gardens. At present, Balfour Beatty Construction is working on the Public Safety Training Complex at their main campus in Lake Worth, Florida.
