Erie, PA, July 10, 2012 --(PR.com
)-- Presque Isle Downs & Casino will host the World Poker Tour Boot Camp and Battle Tournament Friday, July 13 at 10 am. The boot camp training will be conducted by well-known poker pros. The camp will focus on “live” poker game formats and has been specifically designed to improve live game skills.
“You'll be amazed at how much further you can advance your game when you study, talk, and practice under the direction of professional players in a live setting,” said Christine Stacy Presque Isle Downs & Casino Poker Room Manager. “And we are lucky to have some of the best poker players in the game coming here to teach.”
Professional poker players Nicky Brancato and Chris Moneymaker will be the official camp instructors.
"I have taken the long version of this camp and it has made a dramatic impact on my game,” said Nicky "Numbers" Brancato.
Brancato is the current WPT Director of Training and Curriculum, has played more than two million hands online and is a World Series of Poker Circuit Champion.
Moneymaker, who achieved legendary status by winning $2,500,000 at the 2003 World Series Of Poker Main Event after qualifying on an online poker site with a $40 buy-in, also believes in the value of an opportunity like this.
"When I started playing, there was no such thing as poker training, there were maybe three books and there were surely no camps. This camp will help players at all skill levels, because even experienced players have leaks. Camps like this help everyone tighten up the basics of the game. And Nick Brancato is someone that all poker players should listen to ... he has done the hard work of running the simulations, all you have to do is take his advice, I wish that I had this opportunity when I was coming up."
The camp will be followed by a $135 WPT Battle at 4 pm.
The class fee is $350 and will include:
- Personalized training for 40 camp attendees
- Three 90-minute seminars on poker strategy
- Lunch and beverages
- Entry into WPT Battle tournament at 4 p.m. (a $135 value)
Space is limited to 90 total (including those attending the Camp) for the Battle Tournament ($135.00 buy in / 10K in chips / 20 minute blind rounds). $50 satellites into the camp will run July 9-12.
