Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes Makes $10,000 Grant to Assist Veterans with Brain Injuries
Louisville, CO, March 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (Coalition), a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding the lives of severely wounded veterans of the War on Terror, today presented a $10,000 grant to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Association for Brain Injuries (RMHABI). The grant will fund the provision of psychological counseling to brain-injured veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS) disorder.

“An alarming number of America’s brave men and women are returning from the War on Terror with brain injuries, and government agencies simply aren’t providing the necessary treatment in a timely fashion,” said David Walker, President & CEO of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. “Our donation to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Association will go directly to meeting the urgent needs of wounded veterans throughout Colorado suffering from TBI and PTS.”

The Coalition’s $10,000 grant will enable the RMHABI to furnish counseling services to veterans currently receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy for their brain injuries.

“We are grateful that a national organization of the Coalition’s stature has stepped up to help us meet the urgent needs of veterans that would otherwise be forced to wait months, or struggle through endless red tape, in order to receive treatment,” said Eddie Gomez, RMHABI’s President. “These funds will improve the lives of more than 75 wounded warriors and their families throughout Colorado, thanks to the generosity of the Coalition and its supporters.”

In 2008, the Coalition made a $100,000 grant to help fund a national research study on the efficacy of hyperbaric treatment on brain injuries. RMHABI was one of the organizations that later received funding as a result of the study. Since that time, the association has successfully treated more than 40 wounded warriors in its Louisville facility.

The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, based in Leesburg, VA, has provided an invaluable lifeline to thousands of America’s wounded veterans since its establishment in 2004. The Coalition is distinguished from other veteran-focused organizations by its direct financial assistance to America’s wounded heroes. Its Emergency Financial Aid program has stopped foreclosure proceedings on veterans’ homes and kept their vehicles from being repossessed. The organization regularly provides gift checks to cover meals, medical and utility bills, clothing, car repairs and even baby diapers.
